I’m doing Drone Photography!
Like everyone else, I had a bunch of free time over the pandemic, so I thought I’d use some of it and put it to good use. I studied and got my “Part 107” drone license. That allows me to legally fly a drone for commercial purposes.
I have to confess, flying a drone is a bunch of fun, but at the same time, it’s a little scary too. I’m not so worried about safety, I’m worried about losing an expensive piece of equipment. One little slip and “splash, it’s at the bottom of the Monnagahala or bumps into a tree limb, and look out below, crash! It takes not only skill, but also it takes nerve too. The drone I have now takes great photos and 4-k video, but it’s not all that advanced. It’s the perfect training drone.
So far, I’ve shot a few commercial jobs and a few narrative film shoots. I’m still learning and I’m having a lot of fun in the process. This is the place to look if you’d like to see my beginner’s drone reel and here’s the link to the section of my website and features drone photography in Pittsburgh. This isn’t anything all that official, mostly something I show my friends. I’ll be updating this from time to time and at some point, I’ll be adding music and polishing off the edits. But for now, this is what I have to show.
I don’t know about you, but I hind that I’m happiest and most content when I’m perusing something new and learning new things. Drone photography and video is my new passion. I have many passions, but this is among the newest and I plan to keep getting better and better. Stay tuned and watch.
