Environmental Portrait for Wood Shop News Magazine
This is an environmental portrait of Pittsburgh Furniture designer Bruce Berman. I was asked to photograph Bruce for Wood Shop News, a national trade publication. This portrait was taken with a Nikon D800 and a 24-70mm 2.8 lens using just on speedlight shot into an umbrella. The shutter was adjusted to bring in the ambient light of the background. I HDR to enhance the portrait, along with a little desaturation.
I’ve really been enjoying environmental portrait shoots lately. I think that’s a direction I’d like to go in with my R&D. Sure, I still enjoy shooting food, and always will, but I’m going to start caring my camera more in hopes of doing more street and portrait photography. We’ll see if I stick to it. :o)
